The cigarette lighter is not used like you do, it can overload if not used properly!
1. When using a cigarette lighter, avoid overloading
Many car owners, for the sake of convenience, install a power distributor or inverter on the cigarette lighter socket, dividing one interface into multiple interfaces that can be used by multiple onboard electrical devices simultaneously; Or convert 12V DC power from the car to 220V AC power, which can be used for low-power household appliances.
The power interface of the cigarette lighter has a maximum allowable power, and the maximum power of most car models is 120W. Therefore, it is advisable not to use high-power devices or multiple on-board electrical equipment at the same time to avoid the risk of excessive load, fuse breakage, and even damage to the vehicle's circuits or electrical equipment.
2. Not suitable for long-term use
Some car owners usually plug their electrical devices into the cigarette lighter power socket and then ignore them. When not in use, car owners should unplug the power interface to avoid the loss of rebound force, looseness, and virtual connection of the internal snap spring of the socket caused by long-term use. They also need to prevent the equipment from being easily burned out by sudden strong currents when starting the engine next time. If used for a long time, it is best to use it with the engine started, otherwise it will consume excessive battery power and reduce battery life.

3. Avoid using counterfeit and inferior car products
Nowadays, there are more and more in car electrical devices, and some car owners like to search for cheap "little things", unaware that the quality of these products varies greatly. In summer, the temperature inside the car is high due to exposure to sunlight, while in winter, the temperature is low. In such harsh temperature environments, some low-quality in car devices are prone to unexpected problems. Once these situations occur, they are likely to affect the vehicle's electrical system and blow out fuses.
4. Daily maintenance of cigarette lighters
After the car owner has lit a cigarette with a cigarette lighter, there will be some tobacco residue on the heating wire. After use, it will be directly inserted into the socket, and over time, there will be some "dirt" in the socket. If these "dirty things" are not cleared in time, they will gradually accumulate and eventually lead to poor contact in the socket, and even short circuit and Blown Fuses. Car owners should try to use it as little as possible to light cigarettes and regularly clean it, but do not clean it immediately after use to avoid burning themselves.
The cigarette lighter interface has been used for a long time, and the card spring inside the interface may be affected by high temperature and deform. It is possible that the cigarette lighter cannot be stuck after being pressed or the device may not be powered on. In this case, we can solve this problem by ourselves. When the vehicle is powered off, we can use a small screwdriver to insert it into the socket and carefully pull the two side retaining springs towards the middle to restore them to their original position.
Summary:
A small cigarette lighter is not exclusive to smokers, it is part of the vehicle's electrical system and an important power output interface. While it brings us convenience, please do not ignore its importance. If used improperly, it can easily cause unnecessary trouble to your car life.
